This project started with a simple idea, how can illustrations become a part of a live performance?

Created for INSTRUMENTAL, a Kathak performance by Aakaar Kathak, the visuals explored music through people, the divine, and different Indian musical instruments. The aim was to create something that supported what was happening on stage while still having its own visual presence.

Finding the visual language
I started by exploring how different instruments, characters, and musical elements could belong to the same visual world. The colors, compositions, and illustration style gradually developed into a consistent series.

Illustrating the instruments
Each instrument was treated as its own little composition rather than simply being placed on screen. I wanted every visual to feel expressive while still working as part of the larger series.

From Illustration to Stage
The most exciting part was seeing the illustrations move beyond my screen and become part of the actual performance. With the dancers, music, lighting, and visuals coming together, the work finally felt complete.
